Tansen, Nepal
Tansen is a hill town in western Nepal, the headquarters of Palpa District, on a ridge of the Mahabharat range. From the 16th century it was the capital of the Sen kings of Palpa, once the strongest of the Chaubise Rajya, until its annexation by the Gorkha kingdom in 1806. Newar traders settled there, and its temples and Tansen Durbar palace reflect that history.
