Tarhunt

Also known as Tarhun

Tarhunt, also called Tarhun, was the storm god of the Hittites and other Anatolian peoples and one of the chief deities of the Hittite pantheon. The Hittite king ruled as the earthly representative of the storm god rather than as a god himself. This created a more negotiated relationship between royal and priestly authority than existed under Egyptian divine kingship.
