Tasgetius

d. 54 BCE · 1st century BCE

Tasgetius was a nobleman of the Carnutes whom Julius Caesar made king of his people, restoring the position his ancestors had held, as a reward for his services in the Gallic War. In his third year as king, in 54 BCE, he was murdered by his enemies among the Carnutes. Caesar recorded the killing as a sign of growing unrest in Gaul.
