Teatro Farnese

1618 · 17th century

The Teatro Farnese is a wooden theatre inside the Palazzo della Pilotta in Parma, built in 1618 for Duke Ranuccio I Farnese to designs by Giovanni Battista Aleotti. Its permanent proscenium arch makes it one of the earliest theatres of its kind. Largely destroyed by bombing in 1944, it was rebuilt after the war.
