Tetela people
The Tetela are a Bantu people of the Sankuru and Maniema regions of the central Democratic Republic of the Congo. Many served as soldiers in the Force Publique of the Congo Free State, and Tetela troops mutinied in 1895 at Luluabourg and in 1897 during Francis Dhanis's expedition towards the Nile, fighting the state for years. Patrice Lumumba was a Tetela.
