Tete
Tete is a city on the south bank of the Zambezi in north-western Mozambique and the capital of Tete Province. The Portuguese established a trading post there in the 16th century, and with Sena it became a base for the ivory, gold and slave trade with the interior and for the prazo estates. Today it is a centre of coal mining, and the Cahora Bassa dam lies upstream.
