Theudebald, Duke of Alamannia

fl. 727–746 · 8th century

Theudebald was a duke of the Alemanni in the 730s and 740s, a son of Duke Gotfrid and brother of Lantfrid. He resisted the Carolingian mayors of the palace, driving Saint Pirmin out of Reichenau around 727 and repeatedly rising against Frankish rule. He was finally defeated by Pepin the Short and Carloman in the 740s, after which the Alemannic duchy was abolished.
