Ostrogoths
The Ostrogoths were the eastern branch of the Goths, who lived north of the Black Sea and came under Hunnic rule in the late 4th century. After the Huns' collapse they settled in Pannonia as Roman federates, and in 488 Theodoric the Great led them into Italy, where they overthrew Odoacer and ruled from Ravenna. Their kingdom was destroyed by Justinian's armies in the Gothic War, which ended in 554.
