Thibaw Min

1859–1916 · 19th century · Also known as Thibaw

Thibaw Min was the last king of the Konbaung dynasty of Burma, reigning from 1878 to 1885. His reign began with the killing of many royal relatives and faced revolts among the Shan states, including the Limbin Confederacy. A dispute over a British teak company led to the Third Anglo-Burmese War of 1885, after which he was exiled to Ratnagiri in India, where he died.
