Tikar people
The Tikar are a people of the Tikar plain in central Cameroon. Many of the ruling dynasties of the Cameroon Grassfields, including those of Bamum, Nso and Bafut, trace their origins to Tikar princes or princesses who left their homeland and founded new kingdoms, so that Tikar origin became a mark of royal descent. Their language belongs to the Bantoid branch of the Niger–Congo family.
