Treaty of Almizra

1244 · 13th century

The Treaty of Almizra was agreed in 1244 between James I of Aragon and the Castilian heir Alfonso, the future Alfonso X. It fixed the frontier between their conquests in the south-east of the Iberian peninsula, leaving the Kingdom of Valencia to Aragon and Murcia to Castile, and so set the southern limit of the Crown of Aragon's expansion.
