Treaty of Lal Dhang

1774 · 18th century · Part of the Rohilla War

The Treaty of Lal Dhang was concluded in October 1774 between Shuja-ud-Daula, Nawab of Awadh, and the Rohilla chief Faizullah Khan at the end of the First Rohilla War. After Awadh and East India Company troops had defeated the Rohillas at Miranpur Katra, Faizullah Khan, who had retreated to Lal Dhang in the foothills, was allowed to keep Rampur and the surrounding districts. The settlement founded the princely state of Rampur.
