Treaty of Lahore

Part of the First Anglo-Sikh War

The Treaty of Lahore was the peace settlement imposed by the British East India Company on the Sikh Empire after its defeat in the First Anglo-Sikh War of 1845–1846. It stripped the empire of territory, including Kashmir, and limited the size of the Sikh army. Accounts of the Sikh Empire treat it as a stage in the empire's dismemberment before its annexation after the Second Anglo-Sikh War.
