1379 · 14th century

The Treaty of Neuberg was an agreement of 9 September 1379, signed at Neuberg Abbey in Styria, by which the Habsburg brothers Albert III and Leopold III divided their lands. Albert kept the Duchy of Austria proper, founding the Albertine line, while Leopold received Styria, Carinthia, Carniola, Tyrol and the western lands, founding the Leopoldine line. The Habsburg lands were reunited under Maximilian I in 1490.
