Treaty of Windsor (1175)
The Treaty of Windsor (1175) was agreed between Henry II of England and Ruaidrí Ua Conchobair, the last High King of Ireland, after the Anglo-Norman invasion. Ruaidrí accepted Henry as overlord and paid tribute, keeping Connacht and authority over Irish kings outside the Anglo-Norman lands of Leinster, Meath and the coastal towns. The settlement soon broke down as Anglo-Norman lords pushed further into Ireland.
