Ua Conchobair dynasty

Also known as O'Conor dynasty

The Ua Conchobair, later O'Conor, were a dynasty of the Uí Briúin who ruled the kingdom of Connacht from the 11th century. Two of its kings, Toirdelbach and his son Ruaidrí, claimed the high kingship of Ireland in the 12th century. After the Anglo-Norman grant of Connacht in 1227 their power shrank to Roscommon, and in 1384 the family split into the O'Conor Don and O'Conor Roe lines.
