Truce of Plussa

1583 · 16th century · Part of the Livonian War

The Truce of Plussa was signed in August 1583 on the Plyussa River between Sweden and Russia, ending the fighting between them in the Livonian War. Sweden kept its conquests in Estonia, including Narva, and the Ingrian fortresses of Ivangorod, Yam and Koporye. The truce was extended, but war resumed in 1590, and the Treaty of Teusina of 1595 returned the Ingrian towns to Russia.
