Tutul Xiu

Also known as Xiu dynasty

The Tutul Xiu were a Maya ruling lineage of northern Yucatán, associated with Uxmal and, after the fall of Mayapán in the mid-15th century, with the town of Maní. Their rulers, the halach uinic, governed a province of many towns. In 1542 Ah Kukum Xiu submitted to the Spanish, and the family kept noble status and genealogical records under colonial rule.
