Ulithi
Ulithi is an atoll in the western Caroline Islands, part of Yap State in the Federated States of Micronesia, with one of the largest lagoons in the world. Through the sawei exchange system its chiefs owed tribute to the Gagil district of Yap and received protection in return. From 1944 it served as a major forward anchorage of the United States Navy in the Second World War.
