Uraiyur
Uraiyur was the inland capital of the early Chola kings in the Sangam age, now a district of the city of Tiruchirappalli in Tamil Nadu, India. Sangam poems describe it as a fortified city, and it was known for its cotton cloth. After the decline of the early Cholas it remained a local centre, and it was sacked by the Pandyas in the 13th century.
