Ural Mountains

The Ural Mountains are a north–south mountain range in Russia, traditionally regarded as the boundary between Europe and Asia. Under Ivan IV Russian expansion crossed the Urals into Siberia, a process accelerated by Yermak Timofeyevich's Cossack campaigns from 1581 onward. The region also became important for mining and metallurgy.
