Uyghur Muqam
The Uyghur Muqam is the classical music tradition of the Uyghurs of Xinjiang, a set of large suites combining songs, dances, poetry and instrumental music. Tradition credits the compilation of the Twelve Muqam to Amannisa Khan at the court of the Yarkent Khanate in the 16th century. UNESCO recognises it as part of the Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity.
