Afaq Khoja

1626–1694 · 17th century · Also known as Hidayat Allah

Afaq Khoja (1626–1694), also called Hidayat Allah, was a Naqshbandi Sufi master and leader of the Aqtaghliq (White Mountain) faction of khojas in Kashgaria. Expelled by the khan of Yarkent, he sought help from the Fifth Dalai Lama and the Dzungar ruler Galdan, whose conquest of 1680 installed him as ruler of the Tarim oases under Dzungar overlordship. His mausoleum near Kashgar is a major pilgrimage site.
