Uzhhorod
Uzhhorod is a city on the Uzh river in western Ukraine, the administrative centre of Zakarpattia Oblast on the border with Slovakia. Long part of the Kingdom of Hungary, it gave its name to the Union of Uzhhorod of 1646, which brought the region's Orthodox clergy into union with Rome. It was the capital of Subcarpathian Ruthenia in Czechoslovakia until Hungary took it in 1938.
