Vasily Shemyachich
Vasily Shemyachich was prince of Novgorod-Seversky and a grandson of Dmitry Shemyaka. In 1500 he transferred his allegiance and his lands from the Grand Duchy of Lithuania to Moscow, a gain confirmed by the truce of 1503. He defended the southern frontier against Crimean Tatar raids but was suspected of treason; Vasily III arrested him in 1523, ending the principality, and he died in prison in 1529.
