Veraguas Province

Veraguas is a province of Panama, the only one with coasts on both the Caribbean and the Pacific, with its capital at Santiago de Veraguas. Its name goes back to the coast Christopher Columbus explored in 1502, and Columbus's heirs held the title Duke of Veragua. In 1840 it joined Panama in forming the short-lived State of the Isthmus.
