Vidyadhara (Chandela dynasty)

r. c. 1003–1035 · 11th century

Vidyadhara was king of the Chandela dynasty from about 1003 to 1035, when its power reached its height. He led a coalition that killed the Gurjara-Pratihara king Rajyapala around 1019 for submitting to Mahmud of Ghazni, and resisted Mahmud's later invasions in 1019 and 1022, which ended in negotiation. The Kandariya Mahadeva temple at Khajuraho is attributed to his reign.
