Vix Note
The Vix Note was an Allied demand handed to the Hungarian government on 20 March 1919 by the French lieutenant colonel Fernand Vix. It ordered Hungarian troops to withdraw further west to create a neutral zone, in effect confirming the loss of much of eastern Hungary to Romania. Unable to accept it, the Károlyi government resigned, and the Hungarian Soviet Republic was proclaimed on 21 March.
