Vlie
The Vlie is a tidal channel between the West Frisian islands of Vlieland and Terschelling in the Netherlands, linking the Wadden Sea with the North Sea. In the Middle Ages it was the outlet of waters draining the inland lake that grew into the Zuiderzee, and it marked a boundary between Holland and Frisia. In 1666 an English fleet burned a Dutch merchant fleet there, an attack known as Holmes's Bonfire.
