Volta River
The Volta is a river system of West Africa that flows south through present-day Ghana to the Gulf of Guinea. Around 1748, at the height of Oyo power, its tributary network stretched from the Niger River in the east to the Volta corridor in the west. This area encompassed Dahomey, Allada and Porto-Novo.
