Weimar Republic
The Weimar Republic was the democratic German state established after the fall of the German Empire in 1918, named after the city where its constitution was drafted. It faced the burdens of the Treaty of Versailles, reparations, hyperinflation and the Great Depression. Accounts of the German Empire place it as the immediate successor to the empire; it ended with the Nazi seizure of power in 1933.
