Wertach

The Wertach is a river in Bavarian Swabia which rises in the Allgäu Alps and flows north through Kaufbeuren to join the Lech at Augsburg. Its valley carried the old road from Augsburg into the Alps, and Kaufbeuren grew at a crossing on its banks. Its water once powered mills and textile works.
