Whithorn
Whithorn is a small town in Galloway, south-west Scotland, associated with Saint Ninian, who according to Bede founded a stone church there called Candida Casa, the 'White House'. It was a Northumbrian bishopric in the 8th century, and the see was revived in the 12th century under the lords of Galloway, with a cathedral priory that drew pilgrims, including Scottish kings, until the Reformation.
