Yelwa
Yelwa is a town in Kebbi State, north-western Nigeria, on the Niger river near the northern end of Kainji Lake. It became the capital of the Yauri kingdom in the 1880s and remains the seat of the Emir of Yauri. When the Kainji Dam was built in the 1960s, the rising lake flooded older riverside settlements, and Yelwa grew as the main town on the lake's northern shore.
