Zabulistan

Zabulistan was a historical region of south-eastern Afghanistan around Ghazni and the upper valleys of the Helmand and Arghandab. From the late seventh century it was ruled by the Zunbil kings, who resisted the Arab conquest for nearly two centuries until the Saffarid Ya'qub ibn al-Layth took it around 870. The name survives in present-day Zabul province.
