Zealots
The Zealots were a Jewish political and religious movement of the 1st century CE that sought to drive the Romans out of Judaea. During the First Jewish–Roman War a Zealot faction led by Eleazar ben Simon seized the Temple in 68, killed moderate leaders such as Ananus ben Ananus and fought rival rebel groups in Jerusalem. The name later came to mean any fanatical partisan.
