Zeta
Zeta is a historical region of present-day Montenegro, named after the Zeta river and its plain around Podgorica. It was the medieval successor of Duklja, a Nemanjić appanage from the late twelfth century, and was ruled by the Balšić and then the Crnojević families from the 1360s until the Ottoman conquest in the late fifteenth century. Its name survived in the Zeta Banovina of Yugoslavia (1929–1941).
