Zierikzee

Zierikzee is a historic town on the island of Schouwen-Duiveland in the Dutch province of Zeeland. It was a flourishing medieval port trading in salt, madder and fish, but declined as its harbour silted up. In 1576 it fell to Spanish troops after a long siege during the Dutch Revolt, and its preserved monuments include the massive unfinished tower of St Lievens.
