Zosimus

fl. c. 500 · 6th century

Zosimus was a Byzantine historian who wrote, around 500, a New History in Greek covering the Roman Empire from Augustus to the year 410. A pagan, he blamed Rome's decline on the abandonment of the traditional gods. His work is an important source for the late fourth and early fifth centuries, including the end of Roman rule in Britain.
