Abdi-Ashirta

14th century BCE · 14th century BCE

Abdi-Ashirta was the ruler of Amurru, a land in the mountains and coast of present-day northern Lebanon and western Syria, in the fourteenth century BCE. Nominally a vassal of Egypt, he seized neighbouring towns and threatened Byblos, whose king Rib-Hadda denounced him repeatedly in the Amarna letters. His son Aziru continued his expansion and later brought Amurru over to the Hittites.
