Abu Kalijar

1009–1048 · 11th century

Abu Kalijar was a Buyid ruler who governed Fars and Khuzistan from 1024 and also Iraq from 1044 until his death in 1048. One of the last capable members of the dynasty, he reunited much of its southern territory, but his reign was troubled by quarrels with his relatives and by the growing threat of the Seljuk Turks, whom his weaker successors could not resist.
