Adige
The Adige is the second-longest river in Italy, about 410 kilometres long. It rises near the Reschen Pass in the Alps, flows through the Vinschgau, Bolzano, Trento and Verona, and enters the Adriatic south of Venice. Its valley has carried the main route from Germany over the Brenner Pass into Italy since Roman times, which made its towns and the bishops of Trent strategically important.
