Brenner Pass
The Brenner Pass is a pass through the Alps between Innsbruck in Austria and Bolzano in Italy, one of the lowest major crossings of the main Alpine ridge. Since Roman times it has carried the route from Germany down the Adige valley into the Po plain, and emperors used it for their expeditions into Italy, giving Trento and Verona strategic importance.
