al-Adid
Al-Adid was the last caliph of the Fatimid Caliphate, who died in 1171. During his reign real power passed to his viziers, culminating in Saladin, who held the vizierate in Egypt. Saladin ended Fatimid rule and restored recognition of the Abbasid caliph around the time of al-Adid's death, opening the way for the Ayyubid Empire.
