Afon Mawddach

Also known as River Mawddach

The Mawddach is a river of Gwynedd in north-west Wales that flows from the hills north of Dolgellau into Cardigan Bay at Barmouth through a wide, wooded estuary. The estuary is crossed by Barmouth Bridge, a timber railway viaduct opened in 1867. In Welsh tradition the river marked a boundary of the early kingdom of Meirionnydd.
