Ain Farah

Also known as Ayn Farah

Ain Farah is a ruined hilltop settlement in northern Darfur, in western Sudan. Its red-brick buildings include a palace complex, a structure identified as a mosque and earlier buildings that some scholars compare with the churches of Christian Nubia. Tradition links the site with the Tunjur, who ruled Darfur before the Keira sultans, though its dating and the identity of its builders are still uncertain.
