Ajax the Lesser
Ajax the Lesser is a hero of Greek mythology, son of Oileus and leader of the Locrians in the Trojan War. During the sack of Troy he dragged Cassandra from the statue of Athena, a sacrilege for which the goddess wrecked him on his way home. The Locrians atoned for his crime by sending two noble maidens each year to serve in Athena's temple at Ilion, a custom attested into Roman times.
