Akhmat Khan was khan of the Great Horde, the main successor of the Golden Horde, from about 1465 to 1481. He demanded tribute from Moscow and allied with Poland-Lithuania against Ivan III. In 1480 his army faced the Russians across the Ugra River but withdrew without battle, an event taken as the end of Mongol overlordship in Russia. He was killed the next year.
