Alfonso XI of Castile
Alfonso XI was king of Castile and León from 1312 to 1350. After a long minority he restored royal authority, and in 1340, with Afonso IV of Portugal, he defeated the Marinids and Granada at the Battle of Río Salado. He took Algeciras in 1344 and gave the Siete Partidas force of law in 1348, but died of plague while besieging Gibraltar.
