Ali ibn Hammud al-Nasir
Ali ibn Hammud al-Nasir was a commander of Idrisid descent who seized Córdoba in 1016 during the Fitna of al-Andalus and proclaimed himself caliph, the first non-Umayyad to hold the title in al-Andalus. Founder of the Hammudid dynasty, he ruled until 1018, when he was murdered in his bath by his own servants. His family contested the caliphate with the Umayyads for years afterwards.
